Today, Robert Eggerling, Master Mosiac Maker showed me a new little forge he made. It was inexpensive and worked well. Made from a piece of 6” steel pipe, Kaowool, and a $10 plumbers torch.
Transcript
Mike: Robert made a new forge! Just a little mini thing out of a 6" pipe and a plumber's torch. Little nipple welded on the side, lined with... What do you call that wool?
Robert: Kaowool.
Mike: Kaowool. Runs off here on the - on a propane tank. But it's, uh, working real well! For small blades, he's using it for working with copper, so you don't contaminate the forge. But, uh, pretty good idea to make an inexpensive, little forge for forging. Cool!
I’m a beginner just starting to make my own stuff. Looking for tips and knowledge that seasoned blacksmiths take for granted.
